I always get so dang happy and excited when we land in a new place! Traveling with Zach is so much fun, we stayed at three different resorts while we were there! This blog highlights Le Moana Intercontinental!

Traveling to Bora Bora is not the most easy travel day but it is definitely worth it. Starting in Utah we had a short hour and a half flight to San Fransisco, layover here, then we hopped on our 8 and a half hour flight from San Fransisco to Papeete, Tahiti. From here you have to stay overnight in Papeete, because flights from here to Bora Bora always leave in the mornings. Tahiti Airport Motel is literally across across the street from the airport and is where we always stay. There is also an Intercontinental Tahiti resort you can stay at, it is a 5 minute drive from the airport. The flight the next morning is a very quick 45 minute flight and it is beautiful!

Be sure to grab a seat on the left side of the plane for the best view heading into Bora Bora!!!!

From the airport you take an Intercontinental boat taxi (paid), about 30 min ride to Le Moana, and the ride is amazing, my jaw was on the floor the whole time!!

We spent two nights at the Le Moana Intercontinental and let me tell you… it is such a beautiful place to stay! Especially if you’re looking to get to explore more of the local side of Bora Bora easily and an beautiful overwater bungalow experience on a budget, without missing out on every thing that entails! Le Moana is one of two of the Intercontinental Resorts on Bora Bora! With incredible water and so many fish and coral reef right off your deck it is literally a Bora Bora dream you guys. We spotted stingrays everyday swimming right under our bungalow!!

also, small Bora Bora tip, we traveled in November which is Bora Bora’s off season, had a two rainy days total during the week of rain but only for part of the day, and for me I am fine with that because those are still the best things in Bora Bora I think ahaha so fun!!

This little glass box is in your room! you can see beautiful fish and coral swimming right underneath you!! and in my view includes cute Zach and my lil brother Jake who came along on the trip with us!!:) The top of the table can also be removed, and is beautiful at night, the light under the villa and the coral reefs bring a lot of fun fish! The room has a living area, bedroom, bathroom, and lounge deck with a seating area and lounge chairs!

LE MOANA LOCATION

Le Moana is located on the lower end of the main island instead of the outward islet like almost all other resorts on Bora Bora, you can see the outer islet resorts in my airplane shots. It is one of the only resorts on Bora Bora located on the main island!

This makes it really fun and easy to explore the surrounding area. It is walking distance to a market, and other restaurants and the beautiful Matira beach! You get to experience a bit more of Bora Bora island life while staying here. That was something we did love about the location of Le Moana. We walked to the cutest, and yummiest pizza restaurant called, The Lucky House Restaurant. Yummy pineapple pizza and pina colada’s:) literally next door to the resort, and even has a small pool hang out spot at the restaurant. There are also multiple restaurants nearby that you can try as well! I included this little map so you can see where Le Moana is located! Right down there at the bottom of the island at the tip of Matira! It is 7km from Vaitape, the only town in Bora Bora, there are several small road side locals selling hand made souvenirs, I got a cute necklace!

There is a small grocery store very close by that we would walk to and bought snacks during our stay. Very great way to save on money while you’re there! We loved grabbing a few things for our lunches at the grocery store and eating lunch on our villa lounge chairs! There are atv, jet ski rentals available in the town, as well as drivers you can hire if you’re wanting to head out and explore!

RESORT TIPS

One thing I would for sure recommend is to include the breakfast in your stay!!! It is by far our favorite meal of the day! Buffett breakfast, I am obsessed with the nutella crepes and all the fruit! mmmm mm good! It’s worth it! For some rates breakfast is included!

Le Moana has two restaurants on the resort and they offer traditional Polynesian dance performances and buffet nights that are very fun to be a part of! Even if you don’t decide to buy a dinner plate, go watch the performance! It is alway so so much fun to watch!

Kayaks, snorkel gear, paddle boards etc are all at the resort and free to use! Grab some snorkel gear and swim out just a little for a lot of awesome coral reef and fish!! So incredible!

So now, just picture being sun kissed with a little burn, you head back to your bungalow, unobstructed quiet views, you shower off, get ready for dinner and then with ocean air dried hair, you take a stroll along the bungalows and beach as the sun sets over the water! I promise you, there honestly is nothing like it.
